Our annual Holiday Party is set for Sunday, December 6th from 1-5 pm
@ Seton Catholic School in Brighton NY

Santa will arrive around 3 pm to see the kids and hand out gifts.
Open to ALL adoptive families.
Activities include: Santa, Korean Kart, and Crafts!!!
The cost is as follows:
If your membership is current: $10 for the whole family
If you are not a member of LTCR: $15
If you would like to renew or begin your membership with LTCR: $30

(Drinks will be supplied)
We will be accepting donations for Korea.
The Korean Kart will be there for last minute gifts, as well as t-shirts
and sweatshirts.

LTCR Picnic

As I sat there watching the rain at 10 am, I worried about our day. When the airbounce showed up - we were hard pressed to find a "high & dry" spot. We managed, the rain stopped, sun came out and people showed up with kids in tow. Grandmas, Grandpas, kids from 1 to their 20's showed up to see Cecelia.

The kids had a ball with the airbounce & apparently the faucet with the boxed in area made a great mud hole - which I was glad to see the parents let the kids play in. We always try to keep them clean and neat -- over the years I have learned that dirt doesn't hurt & they will thank you for letting them get dirty occasionally without the "wipe down".

I met a lot of new families with new children, some new families waiting for their little ones and reconnected with old friends.

Rochester, NY – In its special appearance this summer at the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC) in Canandaigua, Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra pack a patriotic punch at 7:30 pm on Friday, July 3, with the talents of Rochester City Ballet, and frequent RPO guest, tenor Doug LaBrecque. This early Independence Day concert closes with a thrilling fireworks display across the open skies of the CMAC grounds.

Reprising the RPO’s celebrated partnership at CMAC with the RCB, these two Rochester cultural icons will bring the quintessentially American music of Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and the RPO’s own Jeff Tyzik to the CMAC stage. All choreography will be created by RCB Artistic Director Jamey Leverett. Continuing its American theme, Broadway star Doug LaBrecque will perform some of the most tuneful melodies ever composed for musical theater, providing an additional spark to the RPO’s patriotic favorites.

The RCB will be featured in Copland’s foot-stomping “Hoedown” from the ballet Rodeo, three preludes by George Gershwin, and Tyzik’s Bravo! Colorado. Originally choreographed by Agnes de Mille for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, Rodeo was premiered at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1942. Gershwin’s Three Preludes, written originally for piano, will be performed in an orchestral arrangement by Jeff Tyzik, in addition to his own Bravo! Colorado, dedicated to the memory of President Gerald Ford, a supporter of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival where the RPO spent two weeks each summer for nearly 20 years.

Founded in 1987, Rochester City Ballet (RCB) is a non-profit, educational corporation. Under the artistic direction of Jamey Leverett, the Company presents a full season of quality dance to diverse audiences and helps keep the arts alive by presenting performances to educate and entertain adults and children at community events and special RCB performances.

Doug LaBrecque has thrilled theater audiences as The Phantom and Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, starred in the original cast of the Harold Prince Broadway revival of Showboat, and toured nationally with Les Misérables. He was a featured performer in Oscar Hammerstein’s 100th birthday celebration at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre. Regionally, Mr. LaBrecque has played leading roles in shows including Candide, A Chorus Line, and Man of La Mancha. Mr. LaBrecque also has been a soloist with the National Symphony, the Israel Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the symphonies of Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco. In 2007, he debuted at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops in a tribute to Richard Rodgers.

Rochester native, dancer Jim Nowakowski from the Houston Ballet will make a special appearance for this concert. Nowakowski joined the Houston Ballet in 2007, having trained in Rochester with the Timothy M. Draper Center for Dance Education. He was a popular principal dancer in the RCB and RPO’s annual Nutcracker. In January 2007, Mr. Nowakowski was honored by the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts for his ballet achievements.

This concert is sponsored by Constellation Brands and Hylan Enterprises. Tickets are $13-$50 with children 12 and under free on the lawn. Tickets are available online 24/7 at www.rpo.org; by phone (454-2100); in-person from the RPO Box Office, 108 East Avenue, 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. A convenience fee may apply. The CMAC Box Office (Lincoln Hill Road, Canandaigua) is open on concert days from noon to concert start.

For CMAC ground rules and parking, patrons should visit www.cmacevents.com. This year, CMAC is charging for parking. CMAC’s general parking is $10 and its VIP parking is $20. In response to this change from previous years, the RPO will send patrons a $20 voucher for a future RPO concert with their CMAC tickets.

Look for the crowd of family & friends on the grass if you want to cheer him on. (Poor kid - it's his summer break from work and he's learning this piece in the first week he is home -- leaves him with just a 2 week vacation.)

The show was beautiful! From the little ones to the college kids -- adorable to wow!. Pointed feet were found (thank you Spins dancers), smiles and lots of hair flying around.

A dance benefit for Love the Children of Rochester

Please help me in raising money and awareness for the adopted children of Rochester, NY from South Korea through Love the Children.

My younger sister and I were both adopted from South Korea through this agency. If not for this association, we would not be here today with the fortunate lives we have been blessed with by our family and peers. The comfortable lifestyles, great educations, and ability to dream freely are truly gifts that have been granted to us because of this foundation. My family, as well as many others throughout the Rochester community, have been endowed the greatest gift by Love the Children.

Raffles will be held at the show's intermission via local business' donations.

Staying connected to other adoptive families is important for all of us. It helps our children feel more comfortable with their cultural ties as they grow older and gives them an opportunity to form friendships with children of similar backgrounds.

As parents, when we meet together, we are able to help one another navigate the adoptive parenting journey as we share our stories and experiences.Most importantly, when we gather together, we all get to experience the beauty of multicultural families, reconnect through our commonality and have some FUN!
With this in mind, LTCR has decided to add some to bring us together. You can come to all of them or some of them and bring as many family members or friends as you want to. Just come and connect!

It has long been discussed that we start a blog for our families to interact on. Well, here it is. As the mom of 22 and 19 year old Korean adoptees I feel like I am "old school". We have so many new families in our midst that I would love to make this type of communication available. Enjoy.
